Songwriter’s Night at The Rudder

Songwriter's Night

Songwriter’s Night

If you’re by any chance reading my posts you know how much I love Nashville. I love the people of Nashville, the topography, the cost of living; the slower pace of life, and of course, the music. One of the best things Nashville has to offer to music lovers (and I’m not just talking country music), are songwriter’s nights. For those unfamiliar with these events, songwriter’s nights usually take place in a restaurant, hotel, or bar. Three, four, or even five songwriters join the stage together and take turn playing songs. Depending on the venue, each songwriter usually plays between three to six songs. These people pour their hearts and souls into their songs. Each song is raw and means so much to the writer. Each song tells a different story. Sometimes you can almost “feel” their sadness or happiness coming through in their songs.

Last night my daughter Christy was one of the writer’s playing. To me, listening to her songs is like reading her diary. It’s completely honest and fearless. I learn so much about her through her songs.

It was a magical and musical evening.
